Drew has closed the achievement gap between low-income and higher income students.

Drew's results: A byproduct of an innovative school

Diversity and mixed-income are fundamental to Drew’s mission.

Drew’s integrated mixed-income student population creates unique opportunities for students, providing them with peers from different backgrounds and teaching the value of diversity from an early age. And yet, at the same time, Drew’s Elementary and Junior Academies serve more low-income students than all but two other elementary and middle school across Atlanta Public Schools.

Students and families love the cradle-to-college experience, resulting in stronger academic outcomes.

A major barrier to student achievement is often times student mobility. However, Drew has been successful at maintaining a consistent student body. Drew’s mobility rates are significantly lower than surrounding districts resulting in gains in student achievement. Students who stayed at Drew averaged a 12% gain from 3rd-8th grade.

Drew is preparing its students for 21st century careers.

Drew goes beyond content and local standards and develops skills in students that makes them globally competitive. Drew’s work is integrally connected with a broader mission to break the cycle of inter-generational poverty in the East Lake community, and Drew is committed to preparing its students for jobs - often, types of jobs that may not exist today but will exist when Drew’s students graduate.

Drew is both locally and nationally competitive.

A byproduct of exceptional teaching at Drew is outstanding results on both local and national tests. Drew not only surpasses Georgia on the state mandated College and Career Ready Performance Index, but also exceeds the national average on national tests such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
